Lots Going On

I know the last several post have been wordless and I know some of you may find it hard to believe but at the time I really couldn't think of what to write, there was so much going on that I think if I started typing out the words it would be like reading hieroglyphs...just a bunch of jumbled words....maybe I should have written something out then we could all play word jumble...that would have been a hoot.

Well...June is behind us and I'm still wondering where it went, as a matter of fact I'm wondering what happen to the time since I was in Minnesota for Quilt Market.  We did take a vacation, yes a real vacation to Lake Gaston with the girls, a quick trip to North Carolina to visit the family...but still there were a bunch of days that I could have written a note, or something...but jeeze I couldn't figure out what to say...yep, I know hard to believe...but...
There's so much to say that my keyboard is on fire I'm typing so fast...Kelly Ann's Quilting will be a happening place this summer...We're starting a Debbie Caffrey Mystery Series July 1st and it's free, just need to stop in and sign up...sorry no mail outs available on this one, I'd show ya a picture but...well you's a MYSTERY!

We also have a pattern of the month, Twas The Night Before Christmas by Helen Stubbings

How stinkin' cute is this???   This is like a Block of the Month except no fabric, but it's real scrappy and you'll have a blast doing the redwork, or bluework, or greenwork...any color you decide...Pam Ruffner did the shop sample using the varigated red Aurifil 12wt.  This one we can offer through the mail...just give the store a call, 540-341-8890.

Wait...I'm not done with the happenings....We're doing a Summer Show and Tell...bring in any of your finished quilts, bags, embroidery work, let us take a picture and enter to win a $50.00 store that's incentive to get those UFO's done this summer. thought I was least one more you love working with 30's reproductions?  A big fan of Aunt Grace from Judie Rothermel?  Coming soon....a six month Block of the Month featuring, exclusive to Quilt Shops,  Aunt Grace Circle of Friends...

Is this not the prettiest quilt??  We're still waiting on details from the pattern designers but once that comes in we'll be announcing all the details in our newsletter and on our Facebook page but we are taking pre-sign ups so if your interested drop me an email or give the store a call and get your name on the list.

Let me see...what else....on the home front it looks like we'll be home for most of July and finally get some yard work caught up.  The weather has been brutal and the heat of July and August hasn't even arrived.  But today the humidity has broken and we can enjoy a nice cool morning with the windows open and the girls are lovin' it...

I'll try and not wait too long before I do another post...but until I do...
stay cool...
keep quilting...
and we'll see y'all around the monkey farm...

Kelly Ann

A Dream

Warning...this blog post may cause some tears, but believe me, that are happy ones. I had a dream last night, and my father was in it. Now for those of you that don't know, I lost my father in 2013, and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. I'm sure I've had dreams about him, but they never seemed real...this one was real. Let me set the dream up for you... I was back in my hometown, Havelock North Carolina, and shopping for some type of necklace, and I hear a voice behind me "not that one, pick the blue one"... I turn around, and there was my father, I started screaming and crying, screams, and tears of joy because there was my father in the flesh. We had a nice long hug, and I asked where he had been because I knew he hadn't been around for almost a full 7 years. It seems that he had been pulled for a special mission with the government and couldn't tell any of us, including my mom. Now, speaking of my mother, she doesn

2021 = Self-Care

 2020 wasn't the best of years, it wasn't the worst, but that is behind us and I'm looking forward to 2021 that is full of blank pages. Walk with me, cook with me, read with me, craft with me...just come out and hang with me. Until Next Time Be Kind

Isn't it funny how there are certain things that can cause a major discussion...religion, politics and the weather.  Spending a good chunk of my life in Eastern North Carolina... See that little town, Havelock, yep that's where I grew up...anyway back to the weather. Ya see, growing up there I know a thing or two about humidity, to say it's thick is an understatement. The threat of hurricanes coming up the coast was an annual event and we took it in stride because that's what you do.  Snow...don't go there, when it snows everything stops, seriously, no road salt trucks, plows, what's that?  In 1989 there was a snowstorm to beat all snowstorms, poor Skip (the local weather legend) is still talking about it. Sitting on my front porch in Virginia this Sunday morning the air is so thick I can actually see it and you can almost taste it..yep it's THICK...and ya know what it feels pretty good.  But ya know what feels better, the a/c when you do walk back
