TNB Round Robins 2009 Quilt Show

Finally the reveal of the TNB 2009 Round Robin...Here's Jackies...she started off with the large center appliqued pumpkin and pieced flying geese...if you look real hard in the lower right hand corner you can see my hand embroidery work...

Can you tell Kim is our Wild Child..she started off with this wild center and look at all the fun the traditional quilters had playing with her block.
This block is so Irma...she started off with the birdhouse and Jackie finished up with the Cat looking over at the bird..

Here's mine...how do you like how Jackie matched my big star with a smaller one..kind of cool don't ya think? Kim said she added hearts because she "hearts Kelly Ann"...o'shucks.
Here's Nooks...I almost want to say this is my favorite...Nook was very happy with it...
It's all about the stars in Charlene's quilt...her block was gonna be a long skinny wall hanging but man-o-man did Jackie & Barbara add some really cool borders.

Barbara's quilt is in the pink...okay, pink & brown. That outer border really gave her quilt the finishing touch.
Here's Angela's 30's quilt...the picture doesn't do the quilt justice, the colors are perfect, using the solid in the borders...and that touch of applique...too stinkin' cute...

Well thanks for stopping by our mini Quilt Show...we had a blast doing it and yes we'll be doing one next year. Each month we had the chance to work on each others blocks, some were easier for me then others but I still had a blast and can't wait till we start again. So grab a few of your quilting friends and start your own round robin...if nothing else you'll have a blast at the reveal of the blocks...

have a great day....
stay warm...
keep baking....
keep wrapping....
keep decorating...
cause...
ya know...
Christmas is just around the corner....

A Dream

Warning...this blog post may cause some tears, but believe me, that are happy ones. I had a dream last night, and my father was in it. Now for those of you that don't know, I lost my father in 2013, and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him. I'm sure I've had dreams about him, but they never seemed real...this one was real. Let me set the dream up for you... I was back in my hometown, Havelock North Carolina, and shopping for some type of necklace, and I hear a voice behind me "not that one, pick the blue one"... I turn around, and there was my father, I started screaming and crying, screams, and tears of joy because there was my father in the flesh. We had a nice long hug, and I asked where he had been because I knew he hadn't been around for almost a full 7 years. It seems that he had been pulled for a special mission with the government and couldn't tell any of us, including my mom. Now, speaking of my mother, she doesn

2021 = Self-Care

2020 wasn't the best of years, it wasn't the worst, but that is behind us and I'm looking forward to 2021 that is full of blank pages. Walk with me, cook with me, read with me, craft with me...just come out and hang with me. Until Next Time Be Kind

Weather

Isn't it funny how there are certain things that can cause a major discussion...religion, politics and the weather.  Spending a good chunk of my life in Eastern North Carolina... See that little town, Havelock, yep that's where I grew up...anyway back to the weather. Ya see, growing up there I know a thing or two about humidity, to say it's thick is an understatement. The threat of hurricanes coming up the coast was an annual event and we took it in stride because that's what you do.  Snow...don't go there, when it snows everything stops, seriously, no road salt trucks, plows, what's that?  In 1989 there was a snowstorm to beat all snowstorms, poor Skip (the local weather legend) is still talking about it. Sitting on my front porch in Virginia this Sunday morning the air is so thick I can actually see it and you can almost taste it..yep it's THICK...and ya know what it feels pretty good.  But ya know what feels better, the a/c when you do walk back
